Debit

As you wake up with the rosy fingers of dawn, do you often catch that first glimpse of yourself in the looking glass, and think, "To debit or not to debit?" Perhaps this is the universal question we should all think about.

Debit: The burning issue
Perhaps the burning issue we should resolve begins with carefully defining the conundrum known as "debit;" and by learning to distinguish the difference between this and the state of being known as "credit," we can finally let go of past habits and re-poise ourselves to a less toxic and free-from-harm type future. That being said, riddle me this - a debit is a charge against a bank account. Sometimes, the transaction is carried out through a purchase, where the cost of the purchase or service you are initiating is drawn against your account - savings or checking - and you, the happy consumer, have a piece of plastic in hand, commonly referred to as a debit card - which, from a certain perspective, represents all the dollars accrued in that account.

Get it? It's really quite simple. Just be sure you are tracking the fabulous goods and services you pay for with your debit cards in order to avoid the old overdraft charges. A debit can be tracked by entering each monetary denomination on the left-hand side of your bank account booklet (many of these logs are very easy and convenient to set up online so there is really no need for the old cumbersome paper trail of the dreaded balancing-of-the-old checkbook antiquated processes).

It is similar to the prepaid card. The old standby for those of us without the type of credit history to secure and unsecured card. What does Charlie have to say about all this debit vs. credit vs. prepaid business? He thinks its fantastic! Just keep using debit, credit, change, wooden nickels, first-born children; whathaveyou, all of this is good enough for Charlie to snag some of the everlasting gobstoppers and Wonka bars! A virtual chocolate smorgasbord can be obtained by any means, and debit is just fine! Hang out with the oompas and you can have any one piece of candy or chocolate in his factory!
